Recently, Bertrand Russell’s The Conquest of Happiness was recommended as a good read to help lift us up out of the gloom of 2020. It’s a short book divided into digestible chapters, each detailing either a cause of unhappiness or a recommendation for attaining happiness. Ashlinn has been reading a chapter per day to me during our morning coffee.
I cannot recommend the book enough but a real wow factor sets in when you find yourself remembering that this perfectly pertinent prose was written nearly a century ago, in 1930! Check it out if you need a little boost.
“The man capable of greatness of soul will open wide the windows of his mind, letting the winds blow freely upon it from every portion of the universe. He will see himself and life and the world as truly our human limitations will permit; realizing the brevity and minuteness of human life, he will realize also that in individual minds is concentrated whatever of value the known universe contains. And he will see that the man whose mind mirrors the world becomes in a sense as great as the world.”
Anyone who knows us knows that Ashlinn and I are avid travelers. And one of the keys to happiness on the road is having an organized and easily-accessible home for all of your stuff. We are big fans of all of Peak Design’s gear but one standout is their wash pouch. Ash uses hers for toiletries as intended but I ended up using mine as a tech bag for all of my various camera and recording miscellany and it works swimmingly for that as well!
This week I have a truly wonderful YAY to share with all of you. Last Saturday, the most brilliant, beautiful, bodacious woman in the whole wide world, Ashlinn Romagnoli, became my wife! Covid forced us to get a little creative but our simple, intimate elopement turned out to be an absolutely magical way to commence our life together. I am so very honored and overjoyed to be able to share life and grow with this splendid woman each and every day.
