WATCH: It appears that Fall has finally arrived here in the Southeast! This has always been one of my favorite times of year and I’m so happy to be reaching into the closet for sweaters and jackets once again. Maybe it’s just me (or maybe it’s getting old!) but the change of seasons made my joints and back feel a little creaky this week. This article from Mindbodygreen was a good reminder that Autumn is a great time to reconnect with my yoga and bodywork practice.
Yoga classes ain’t cheap, however! Fortunately, there are some great (and FREE) videos available online that you can use right in the comfort of your own living room. Thanks, Internet.
READ:My family and I had a meeting with our fiduciary advisor this week, which also reminded me that fourth quarter is a perfect time to pay more attention to the needs of my fiscal body as well. One of my go-to sources of knowledge and inspiration in this area of my life is blogger Sam Dogen of Financial Samurai. He put out an excellent post recently that summarizes his core principles of financial independence.
My two favorites:
“Know that you only deserve what you have earned. There is no better feeling than working hard for your success. Pity the people who have everything given to them. Let go of your need to compare. You will never fully know how hard they tried or didn’t try to achieve their results. Eradicate entitlement.
“Always give without asking for anything in return. Give your time. Give your money. Give your kindness to those in need. You never know what someone is going through, so keep your judgement locked away. Constantly smile and you will find that strangers will smile right back. Eventually, people can’t help but want to help you succeed.”
LISTEN: My dear friends Eilen Jewell and Jason Beek are rolling through town next Saturday night to play a show at City Winery. Our mutual friend Kelley sent me a photo from the concert in Boston last night and now I’m even more stoke to see them back here in Music City once again! There are still tickets available so come join me or catch them at a venue in your city. You can have a look and a listen to these uber-talented folks on Eilen’s site.
Make this week magnificent!
