READ: This week I received an exciting offer from Tantor Media to narrate the audiobook version of The Ten Worlds: The New Psychology of Happiness which was written by my dear friend, Alex Lickerman, and his co-author, Ash EIDifrawi. I’ve been reviewing the content of the book this weekend in preparation to begin production next week and I can already say it’s a book that will help so many people. Backed by solid scientific reasoning and evidence-based research from two doctors, it offers a roadmap through and out of the core patterns that keep us from experiencing the happiness we seek.
“The ultimate goal, however, is to learn to see the sublime in everything. It may require a certain quieting of the autobiographical self, a deliberate turning away from its worries and doubts and attempts at problem solving, and a focus on viewing everything as if seeing it for the first time, like a child. To do this we may need to focus back in on details in our environment that don’t typically catch our attention: the texture of the clouds overhead, the dappling of sunlight on water, the fluttering of leaves in the wind, the sound of waves lapping against a shore, the smoothness of porcelain, the grain pattern in a hardwood floor. But if we purposefully and consistently seek to be astonished by the world, we may eventually learn to do so out of habit.”
WATCH: At the heart of so much of our needless suffering in life is an underlying sense that we are unworthy or wrong in some essential way; that we are somehow unacceptable as we are. One of my very favorite teachers of mindfulness practice is psychologist and author, Tara Brach. In this excellent talk, she delves into how to break out of what she calls “The Trance of Unworthiness.”
LISTEN: After listening to the Wattswave mix I shared last week a couple more times, I started exploring a few other offerings by Akira the Don this week and came across this onethat’s very much in line with the themes of the two items above… ＳＴＯＰ ＴＨＩＮＫＩＮＧ² 🧘 | A Chill Lofi Mix To Meditate To 🧘.
Make this week magnificent!
