Quarter one I was right on track to meet my goals for the year. Quarter two, not so much. Some factors were outside my control but others were definitely on me. In January, I was eating clean and focusing on execution, but I’ve let some nonsense creep back in the last few months.
The good news is we’ve still got half the year to course correct. With a little bit of adjustment, we can re-align with our vision.
DIET: Some things give us more energy and focus. Others sap them. For the month of July, with the option to renew indefinitely, I’ll be instituting what I’m calling the “Bye-bye Bullsh*it. Greetings, Good Sh*t! Diet” (or BBSGGS, for short). Essentially, I’ll dismiss the things that aren’t serving me and welcome in the ones that are.
For me, those two lists look like this:
Mindless Media consumption
Time on the Internet
Social media interaction
Cooking at home
Exercise & stretching
Time in Nature
Face-to-face interaction and handwritten notes
What would those lists look like for you?
READ: Although this article came out in February, this process for reviewing and re-energizing your 2018 resolutions is still very relevant. “Have a long-term vision — but short term, measurable goals. Set your vision for your year, then let it go. Focus on committing to specific, measurable goals for 90 day timeframes.”
LISTEN: On Friday night, my new friend Lauren turned me on to what is surely going to be a staple of my summertime soundtrack, Afrobeat all-star Ebo Taylor’s record, Life Stories.
Make this week magnificent!
