It’s a calm and fresh afternoon here in Nashville and all of Nature is singing its song. All around the neighborhood, Japanese magnolias, dogwoods and forsythia have exploded into a joyful chorus of vibrant colors. Birds of all sorts have returned from their winter retreats and are chirping away. Everywhere I look, there are shoots of green and new life emerging…spring has definitely sprung!
Maybe it has something to do with being an April baby, but this has always been one of my favorite times of year. It beckons us all to come out of our various states of slumber and to begin again. Along with all of the new growth and reinvigoration of the natural world, we too have the opportunity to start anew. If last year somehow didn’t go the way we wanted, we now have a chance to leave our failures behind and launch a fresh approach with clearer vision.
Whether you’re celebrating Easter, Pesach or simply the renewal of life and fresh starts that comes with each cycle of seasons, I hope that this weekend you’ve had a chance to enjoy some refreshment and quality time with the people you love.
READ: Spring is a great time for cleaning out those closets or organizing the garage, but it’s also a wonderful time to clear up space in our minds. Along with that sweater you didn’t wear during yet another winter, maybe there are some mental habits that could be released as well.
WATCH: From Beauty of Science comes this gorgeous little visual meditation on floral pigmentation. These colors look good enough to eat.
LISTEN: A very special lady introduced me to the music of Ludovico Einaudi this week and it was love at first listen! His 2004 album, Una Mattina, makes for a very fitting soundtrack for a contemplative walk or drive through April showers.
Make this week magnificent!
